Now that Johnny Depp is free from his courtroom troubles, we can report that his return to acting includes working with Tim Burton on a new project.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have had a long-standing work relationship with one another. Depp has appeared in several Burton films, but their collaboration seemed to have slowed down in recent years. Then again, it could have been the trouble that was caused between Depp suing ex-wife Amber Heard. That led to Depp winning a defamation trial that all but brought the man back into superstardom. Now, through our trusted and proven sources, we can report that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are working on a new project together.
A recent rumor has suggested that Johnny Depp could be appearing in the Tim Burton Addams Family reboot, Wednesday. This new series has already shown us Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, and Pugsley. However, there are several main characters that have not yet been in the trailers for the upcoming Netflix series. One is Uncle Fester. That role was previously inhabited by the heavy talented Christopher Lloyd, but Depp is also a fantastic actor that could inhabit that character. We could see that happening. There is also Lurch and Thing. Granted, Thing does not speak at all and is only a hand, but it could be Depp’s hand. Lurch might be a stretch too, pun intended, as Depp would have to likely wear some huge platforms to fit in that role.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have created some of the best films with one another. Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, and many others. Depp fits the macabre and odd style that Burton always puts forth. It would make complete sense for Depp to appear in the new Wednesday series, though they could be working on a new film. Another rumor is that Burton is working on a Beetlejuice 2 sequel that will bring in Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. Depp could be a welcomed addition to that film, though it is all but a rumor at this point. Fans have been long clamoring for Keaton to return to that role, and he just might. Bringing along Depp for the ride would be quite fantastic.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have not worked with one another in 10 years, as Dark Shadows was their last film with one another. Despite most of their collaborations being hits with fans, that film fell a bit flat. That could have been why they decided to take a break from one another, or their schedules might not have matched up since then. Either way, it will be exciting to see what they have in store.
Wednesday is set to debut on Netflix this fall, with means we could be seeing the series premiere sometime between September and December. This could be the long-awaited reunion of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, but we will all have to wait and see. Depp might appear in a cameo in the series, or he might just be the focal point of a new macabre story from the mind of Burton.
