Earlier today, Senator Marco Rubio and First Daughter Ivanka Trump met to discuss tax reform. When she arrived to the Capitol, he greeted her with a gesture one might assume was intended to be a hug.

And although this now-viral photograph might only show a split-second moment from what we hope was an actual embrace, the image was enough material for the internet to turn into a meme.

Rubio did his best to recover from the awkward moment with an attempt at humor. He insisted he was "investigating" on the failed hug and even memed himself a couple times.

(Nice try, Senator, but the damage has already been done.)
