On December 31, 1979, Joshua David Hawley, an American politician and lawyer, was born. As of 2019, he has served as Missouri’s junior senator in the U.S. Senate.

After serving as Missouri’s 42nd attorney general from 2017 to 2019, Republican Hawley upset Democratic incumbent senator Claire McCaskill in the 2018 election.

Hawley, who was born and raised in Springdale, Arkansas, with parents a banker and a teacher, graduated from Yale Law School in 2006 and Stanford University in 2002.

After working as a law clerk for Tenth Circuit Judge Michael W. McConnell and Chief Justice John Roberts from 2011 to 2015, he practised law at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

From 2008 through 2011, he practised law in private practice.

Hawley has battled extensively before the US Supreme Court in addition to several federal courts of appeals and state courts of last resort.

She also provided Michael Mukasey, the attorney general, with advice when employed by the Department of Justice.
